Chinese and Japanese companies will cooperate to develop the next generation of ev fast charging stations. Once the development is successful, the electric vehicle can be fully charged within 10 minutes, and it is expected to achieve this idea by 2020.

It is reported that the China Electricity Council (CEC) is expected to sign an agreement with the Japan Electric Vehicle Fast Charge Association (CHAdeMo) in Beijing at the end of this month.
At present, the Japanese fast charging system can output 150 kilowatts of electricity, and it takes about 30 minutes to fully charge. The power output of China’s fast charging system is about 50 kW.

The goal of cooperation between China and Japan is to commercialize a new fast charging system capable of outputting more than 500 kilowatts and charging time of less than 10 minutes. Due to Japan’s technological leadership, the new standard fast charging system is expected to be based on Japanese technology, while China provides charging components and other resources.
Today, China, Japan, and Europe are launching a tug-of-war on the implementation of global unified charging standards. By cooperating with the new standard fast charging system, China and Japan will occupy 90% of the fast charging market and take an important step towards global standards. Once the Chinese and Japanese teams successfully create global standards, Japan will be more likely to export electric vehicles. And batteries, China with the largest number of electric vehicles in the world will also benefit more.
